Canoes Currachs Kayaks & Ceilidh

The Causeway Coast Kayak Association invites you to join them for a cruise on the River Bann on Saturday 19 March 2005. 10.00 – 16.00. This event is open to all paddlers and rowers who have their own craft and wish to join us for the day. There will be a ceilidh in the evening for all participants and you are welcome to bring a friend.

Historical Cruise on the River Bann 10.00 – 16.00

Meet at the Crannagh Ice House at 10.00.

Launch at Camus picnic site and jetty at 11.00., Cutts Lock at 12.30.,

Mountsandel   Jetty 13.30., Strand Road Jetty 15.00., and   to finish at the Crannagh   at 16.00.

We will have  Jim Allen with us to give us the a brief history along the way of Camus, the Cutts,  Mountsandel, Coleraine and the Crannagh.

Crannagh Ice House  - 76 Portstewart Rd. Coleraine.

Take the Portstewart Rd. out from Coleraine past the Coleraine Borough Council Offices. Turn left at the CCKA sign opposite the last accommodation block of the university and left again at the river.

Ceilidh at the Crannagh Boat House 19.00 - 23.00

Janet will take us through a few social dances [flat shoes or trainers] and if you play an instrument bring it along.   We will play a few tunes and sing a few songs to give folk a chance to get their breath back and pause for supper when all else fails. There will also be a short slide show of traditional boats at some stage in the evening.

CCKA members please bring a loaf of sandwiches and there will be a barbeque lit if   you wish to cook something hot. Tea and coffee will be provided. Bring your own drink if you want something stronger or need lubrication for the joints.

Crannagh Boat House  76 Portstewart Rd. Coleraine.

Take the Portstewart Rd. out from Coleraine past the Coleraine Borough Council Offices. Turn left at the CCKA sign opposite the last accommodation block of the university and right at the river. Please park carefully and supervise children as it will be dark and there is DEEP WATER BY JETTY.

There is no charge for this event but we hope that you will make the effort to attend.
